Lew
Trumble is originally from the Southern Tier of New York State, where he
earned a Pony Club B rating, participated in competitive trail riding (New
York and Vermont 100’s), showed horses and did some eventing. After
graduating high school in 1977, he earned degrees from Sterling College in
Craftsbury Common, Vermont and Paul Smith’s College in Saranac Lake, New
York.
In 1983, Lew joined the staff at the Hobby Horse Farm in Fairview, PA (now
The Willows). He has ridden, trained and taught there ever since. While
still affiliated with The Willow’s, Lew trained horses in Florida in
1987 and 1988. In 1989 he trained that years AHSA Reserve Champion Working
Hunter Horse of the year. He has also taken horses to the Junior Quarter
Horse World Show in Texas and the Appaloosa World Show in Oklahoma.
In terms of Equitation, Lew has sent riders to the McClay Regional
Competition in St. Louis, MO and in 1997 to the Capitol Challenge in
Washington DC. He has personally continued to ride and some years ago
evented his own horse through Preliminary. Lew has also enjoyed much
success in Hunter/Equitation shows on the Hunter Circuit in PA, OH, NY and
KY. His riders have earned many championships and reserves in several
divisions. In 2001, he trained the champion Green Hunter Pony at the Pony
Finals.
Now, after 20 years at the same location Lew has chosen to move his base
of operation to Breneric Stables, Route 99, McKean PA, where he will
continue his program.
